Thousands of years ago, on the thirteenth day of the Nowruz celebrations, a day traditionally known as Sizdah Bedar, Iranian gathered and celebrated in the plains and deserts, singing, dancing and praying to the “God of Rain” for the enduring prosperity of the land. Since then, Iranians have continued this tradition by heading outdoors to celebrate the renewal of nature.

This year, however, the celebrations carry a much heavier weight as Iranians endure the hardships of the current conflict. Despite these challenges, many will still seek solace in the outdoors, holding a collective wish that peace, freedom, and happiness will finally return to their homeland.
